The Ship is back!
I was recently invited as a blogger to the Chichester Harbour Hotel for the relaunch of their restaurant. It was scheduled for the day after I returned to the UK from a four month trip to Australia, but being a foodie I wasn't going to miss out!
Gin tasting experience
Upon arrival my guest and myself were greeted and shown to the bar for a gin tasting masterclass featuring three local and lovely gins, Brighton Gin, Curio Gin & of course, Chichester Harbour Gin. They were all presented with their own accompanying tonics and an explanation from the barman.
Dinner - Starter
We were then shown into the restaurant for dinner, presented with beautifully cooked tempura prawns and tempura vegetables to nibble on whilst we browsed the menu. I decided to share a starter with my guest which was a delicious fried egg with chorizo & charred corn served with corn bread. As I had not chosen a starter for myself the new Chef Patron Alex Aitken kindly brought me out a sample dish of the truffle and mushroom risotto which was delectable!
For my main course I chose the lemon sole which came with greens and a lovely butter sauce, with a side of mushrooms and spinach. This dish was exquisite and thoroughly enjoyed. There are some fantastic new menu choices so I highly recommend paying a visit to The Ship if you're in the Chichester area.
My all-time favourite course of any dinner party and what a selection we were presented with! We were presented with one of each new item on the dessert menu so that we could all try a little bit of each one, I really couldn't say which was my favourite. Each new dish on the menu has been carefully selected, planned and named perfectly and the desserts were no exception.
Due to unforeseen circumstances on the day of the event we were unable to make our spa appointment but were welcomed back the following morning to enjoy our treatment. The spa itself is down stairs underneath the hotel so you feel a true sense of escapism from the outside world as soon as you set foot down there. We were give robes and slippers and shown to the changing rooms before our massages. As part of the launch evening we were gifted a complimentary 30 minute spa treatment with a choice of a facial or a massage and use of the spa and sauna area afterwards.
The spa tea were wonderfully accommodating and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience and will be back again to use our 50% vouchers for another massage!
The Launch Party
As we were invited to the evening of the relaunch we were also invited back to the launch party the following Friday evening. Both my guest and myself took our partners along for another complimentary evening of champagne & oysters, cocktails , live music from The Royal T’s and Company B UK and a cooking demonstration from Alex and his incredible team. On arrival we sipped on champagne from Tinwood Estate, followed by Bailey's Espresso Martinis and a tower of macaroons.
All four of us had a superb evening and will be using the Harbour Hotel for our upcoming coffee dates, meetings, dinners and drinks.
Thank you to Victoria and her team for providing outstanding service and for putting on such a fantastic event.
