The Little Blog of Life is going global!
I can't believe I'm writing this. It's been the hardest secret to keep and the most exciting few months but I am delighted to say that as of September 2019, The Little Blog of Life is going global!!
James and I knew that this year was going to be a big one. We talked about starting to save for a place of our own one day and had a look to see what was about. I toyed with the idea of moving my job in his direction so that we could spend more time together. We're still not sure when or how it happened but the next thing we knew we'd decided we'd like to go and see the world before settling down. I've always been an old soul in a young body. For as long as I can remember I've wanted to have a family, be a wife and make a beautiful home for my children and husband. At 23 you could call me mad but I felt ready for this next step in my life, I'd met the guy, had all the feelings and could see my future with him. But somehow I knew that if we didn't go and see the world now, we wouldn't end up going. Knowing myself as I do, I knew once we had a place I'd want the ring, the wedding and then children would follow. Don't get me wrong I still want all of those thing as badly as I always have but they're just taking a backseat for a while.
Another thing which has always held me back is money. I admit. I'm not the best person at saving and like to spend money on others as opposed to spending it on myself. I always thought I'd never be able to afford the plane ticket let alone spending money and all the other stuff. However, I started to look into how much it all cost and seeing that it wasn't quite as much as I expected made me feel hopefully that we could actually do this! Plus, they say if you wait till you can afford it, you'll never go.
When discussing where we wanted to go, I told James about my distant family in Sydney and we were sold. I contacted them and asked if they would have us which they immediately replied "Yes, we'd love to!". It's almost as if history is repeating itself, they told us. When my parents were younger before I was born they travelled to Australia to stay with them for 5 weeks, and 10 years ago my auntie and her best friend did the same. They've already shown us so much hospitality form across the world that we can't wait to stay!
Another cool thing about our trip is that James' old college friend as his girlfriend, another Jade, are flying out around the same time as us to Sydney. After staying with my family for a bit we're planning to meet up with them, hire a campervan and go on a roadtrip, so watch this space...
With only 9 weeks to go today in fact, I'm on a mission to get as organised as I can. So I ask that anyone who has done this sort trip, please get in touch and let me know your tips!
